Comparison, The Thief of Joy!
Ya'l 2018 is about living your best life, getting rid of negativity and loving yourself to the max! Easier said than done, I know! Most likely, the minute you tap on your Instagram app you will be bombarded with pictures of cars, houses, foreign places people travel to, lean bodies and a bunch of other crap that will remind you just how different your reality is. In this day and age, with social media, reality shows and magazines pushing an unrealistic and unattainable concept of what they want you to believe life should be like is really hard not to become affected or even depressed to some extend. As I have mentioned on previous posts I have been putting a lot of focus on taking care of my mental health, so today I wanted to share with you 5 things I remind myself daily!
1. Your journey & path are Unique! It may take you longer to succeed, and that's totally fine!
As they say "a flower doesn't think of competing with the flower next to it.. it just blooms" everything at due time kids, no need to beat yourself up because you're not where you want to be in life just yet, if you do your research, lots of big shot celebrities and entrepreneurs became successful later in life, Oprah, J.K Rowling, even Morgan Freeman didn't become a house hold name until after they were 40. We all have our own journey and path, it doesn't matter when you get there what matter is that you do!
2. You will live a Happier & Healthy Life
When you let go of the need to look at your neighbor's success refraining from any kind of comparison you will find a profound sense of liberation, comparison is truly the thief of joy. Your overall mental health will improve tremendously.
3. It will help you focus on Yourself
Once that new found liberation settles in, you will have room to grow as an individual and focus on your own goals. We waste too much time looking at other peoples pictures, convincing ourselves we'll never have a six pack or a car or a pair of Balenciaga's Triple S, stop that and start doing!
4. Comparison is only okay if it is for constructive purposes.
This one can be tricky though guys, there's a really thin line between admiration and jealousy. So when you find you're comparing yourself to someone else, rather than letting the feeling of envy sink in use that energy and turn it into fuel to want to be better and go out there and achieve whatever you want to achieve.
5. No one is You and that is Your Power!
No need to explain this one any further, you are you, what you bring to the table is unique, no one else can! No one can be Andres like I can be Andres. Be patient and keep doing you!
